A: Dannah speaks at events for teens, adult women, co-ed teen and college students. She would love to consider coming to your event. Q: I have a personal issue that I need help with. Who can I email?
A: You’re not alone. Everyone faces things that require help from a trusted friend. You can chat, talk on the phone or email a compassionate person on everything from sexual sin to eating disorders to struggling with your worth at The Hope Line with Dawson McAllister. Focus on the Family also offers Family Care Specialists to help you at (800) A-FAMILY (232- 6459) Monday-Friday from 6am-8pm MT. Focus on the Family can help you with a referral to a local counselor if you need one.
Unfortunately, we are a small ministry and unable to provide staffing to help with counseling needs. We get such a high volume of requests for Dannah to counsel that we can no longer allow her to respond to them or she would not be able to care for those in her own church community, and we believe that the local church is the place of healing. We encourage you to also talk with someone in your church or community. Prayerfully select someone who is older and wiser and can guide you through the steps of healing.
Q: Where can I get some of the statistics that Dannah spoke about on a recent broadcast, at an event, or in an article?
A: Dannah is widely studied and provokes a lot of questions from people who want her to share teaching notes, statistics, and sources. Since things change quickly, we don’t offer that as a part of our ministry but you can usually Google your topic and come up with a plethora of your own information using some decent discernment.
Most of the statistics that Dannah shares are included as footnotes in her resources. Q: How did Dannah get started in her speaking/writing ministry? I’d like help in getting a start of my own.
A: “Don’t focus on starting a ministry. Focus on ministering.” That’s what Dannah tells anyone that asks. Dannah never wanted to be a speaker. She didn’t seek to be a self-help author. She started ministering to teenage girls in her church, and God unfolded something bigger than she would have liked! Through His grace, she is equipped and enabled to do what must be done as people partner with her. She could not have planned or pursued the ministries of Pure Freedom and True Girl. Only God can do that.
Here’s a big tip though: pray. Dannah began to pray for one hour a day as this ministry unfolded. It was in that time that God gave her step-by-step instructions as to who he wanted her to minister to next, and how.
Q: Can Dannah endorse my book or ministry?
A: Due to the volume of requests and the time taken to review manuscripts, Dannah no longer endorses books and ministries she is not already associated with. Q: Can I meet with Dannah?
A: This question kills us because we’d love to say “yes.” If you could meet with Dannah, you’d know that she genuinely cares about your hurts and hopes and fears and dreams. She’d pray with you and get into your heart. She does this whenever God orchestrates an encounter and some of her sweetest friendships have been developed by women and teens she’s met along the way. But due to the high number of requests she gets via phone, facebook, and email for women to meet with her, we no longer attempt to set up personal meetings. What we can tell you is this: God sees you. And He will personally meet with you and orchestrate an encounter with just the right woman to advise you if you’ll take the time to be still and listen to His heart on the matter. Watch and be blown away by how He does this in your life. What He has is much better than a meeting with Dannah and it will be your God-story unfolding!
Q: Where did Dannah get her research on the Hebrew word Yada? What tools did Dannah use to come to her definitions of Hebrew words for sex?
A: Dannah's work on the study of words used to refer to sexuality in the Old Testament was originally inspired by during a simple reading of the Bible several years ago. She found that the physical interaction between Adam and Eve (Genesis 4:1) was described as "to know" using the Hebrew word "yada." From this, Dannah began to study the terms used for "sex" in the Old Testament and has looked at several language tools and commentaries. "Yada" is used to both refer to holy sexuality as in that between Adam and Eve AND to refer to the holy knowing that a man can have with God. It speaks of the emotional and spiritual nature of a relationship. Tools as basic a The Hebrew-Greek Key Word Study Bible by AMG Publishers and The Hebrew English Concordance to the Old Testament by John R Kohlenberger III and James A Swanson are helpful in understanding the full structure of the grammar in Genesis 19:33. The word "lay" was comprised of both the word "sakab" and "et2". "Sakab" means "to lie down, rest" or "to sleep with as in a euphemism of sexual intercourse." It is related to the words "sikbah" which means "emission or discharge" and "sekobet" which means "sexual relations or sexual intercourse." Without getting to the second word, this reference to "lay" is clearly limited to the physical realm and the mechanics of sexuality. "Et2" means "with, to, upon, beside, among or against" and again emphasizes the mere physicality of the word. "Lay" in Genesis 19:33 is, as stated in The Key Word Study Bible, a gross euphemism.
We hope this helps to clarify our position on the words "yada" and "sakab." Dannah’s book, What Are You Waiting For: The One Thing No One Ever Tells You About Sex, explains the word more deeply as it is a user-friendly study of it from Genesis to Revelation. Dannah has attempted to present the complexities of the Hebrew language in concise, easy-to-understand definitions as she teaches today's youth. It has been rewarding to watch the eye-opening response as students get the power of God's sexuality versus the worlds. Thanks for inquiring about her study tools.
Q: What about my son? Is there something out there for him?
A: After a lot of years, Dannah finally wrote a book for mothers of boys entitled Six Ways To Keep The "Good" In Your Boy. It encourages moms to raise their tween sons to become pure teens! Dannah and her husband Bob also co-wrote a book for teenage boys called Who Moved The Goalpost? It deals with mental temptation and visual virginity as well as the guy/girl relationship. Most recently Dannah teamed up with Jarrod Sechler to write a bible study for tweenage boys (7-12 year olds) called It's Great to be a Guy: God Has a Plan for You and Your Body. Q: Is the True Girl Event appropriate for my teenage daughter?
A: True Girl Events are specially designed for younger girls ages 7-12, with the core being tween girls ages 8-12. If you really want to bring your teenage daughter, you might encourage her to volunteer as an usher. You would need to contact the local church hosting the event to do that. Be sure to let her know ahead of time that it's going to have a younger feel. However, the issues and topics will still be very relevant and you can certainly discuss with her what she learned during the event!
Q: Why doesn’t Dannah appear at True Girl events?
A: Dannah is a wife and mom. It would be quite hypocritical for her to encourage you to be a great mom, and leave her own family to be on the road. Long ago, she was given a strong mandate from the Lord to be wise about how she structured her ministry out on the road. She has accountability in this matter and hand-selects and trains the True Girl team. Dannah personally crafts the teaching curriculum for every event you attend. The young women you see on stage are personally mentored by Dannah and prepared not just to perform on stage, but also to pray for, counsel, and minister one-on-one to your daughter should the opportunity arise at an event. You’ll get all the same Biblical meat without Dannah’s appearance, and she gets the peace-of-mind knowing that she is being a faithful mom while she helps you to do the same!

Q: The "And the Bride Wore White" curriculum looks quite extensive, and seems to be created as a ten-week study! How do I fit the whole curriculum into a weekend event?
A: First, we encourage you to PRAY through the whole event. The study has been produced as a resource for you, and since you know your group best, please feel free to move, change or modify sessions as you see fit. Another option to help keep the teaching time balanced with the interactive lessons is to use our Curriculum DVD. If you are more of a planner, it may be easier for you to schedule the sessions and stick to the plan. However, please do NOT feel overwhelmed if you are not able to complete all of the teaching sessions - it may minister to hearts just as mightily if you allow more flex time in the schedule and set up a follow-up girl's night or weekend!
Q: May I copy pages from Dannah’s books?
A: You may copy up to 5 pages from her books without written permission from Pure Freedom. However, each copy needs to have the book title and author clearly on the page. (The exception to this would be 8 Great Dates which was created for you to photocopy.) We strongly recommend that students you lead through any of her books would each have their own copies of the books, which can be ordered at our online bookstore. If you need permission to copy more than five pages, contact the publisher of the book you’re using.

A: All of our web resources are designed to be a supporting tool in your personal ministry! We would LOVE for you to use and enjoy any and all of the resources available online.
